Description

The only sauce that tastes “just right”.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ Tablespoon Dried Parsley Flakes
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Basil Flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano Flakes
  • ½ teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 whole Dried Bay Leaf, Broken Into Fourths
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon White Granulated Sugar
  • 1-½ pound Ground Beef, At Least 90% Lean
  • 1 cup Sliced Celery Stalks
  • 2 cups Chopped White Onion
  • 1-½ cup Chopped Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 cup Sliced Button Mushrooms
  • 2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
  • 28 ounces, weight Whole Peeled Tomatoes
  • 15 ounces, weight Tomato Sauce
  • 6 ounces, weight Tomato Paste
  • ¼ cups Red Wine

Preparation

Pre-measure all spices, salt and sugar, into a small bowl. Set aside.

Brown beef in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Add celery, onion and green pepper, and cook until fragrant and transclucent. Stir in mushrooms, spices, and the garlic. Add all three cans of tomato products and the wine, then mix and season to taste. Simmer for approximately 1 hour, adding water as needed for liquid.

When you say, … add all 3 cans of tomato products . . .” are you including the water that the whole tomatoes are in?

So incredible. I added half an eggplant and reduced the quantity of celery and onion. I love this sauce.

Soooo good! The red pepper gives it a little kick so next time I’ll reduce just a bit. Other thn that, the spices are perfect!
