This recipe for taco meat is from an authentic Mexican home cook. It adds potatoes, onions, refried beans and green chilies to a standard taco meat recipe. It’s out of this world. You will love it!
Place your meat in a large saute pan over medium heat. Break up the meat a bit and add water. Add the taco seasoning and brown the meat over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
When the meat is browned add the diced potatoes, diced onion, green chilies and refried beans. Stir to combine and then cover the pan, stirring every 2 minutes or so.
After 10 minutes of steaming, remove the lid and continue to cook. You will still need to stir periodically. It’s done when it gets thick (cook to your desired thickness).
Serve with hard shell or soft shell tortillas or just have a taco-salad with or without tortilla chips. Top with desired toppings, like lettuce, more refried beans, shredded cheese, jalapenos, sliced black olives, tomato, salsa and sour cream.

She has some pretty amazing creations, like Roasted Garlic Potato Soup and Nutty Coconut Chicken. Go check them out!
Heather is a Texas native and the blogger behind Heather's Dish. She's mom to Weston, wife to Nate, and they live in Little Rock, Arkansas with their two "stubborn and saucy" dogs Bunker and Keira. In her blog, she shares her photographs, random musings (serious and silly alike), and all kinds of scrumptious recipes---and not just evil variations of her favorite mac and cheese. Her enviable TK recipe box is a testament to that. Go see for yourself!
