Description

This is my basic sauce that I make at the drop of a hat. . . even with the help of my two year old! There are innumerable variations– oils, vinegars, spices, extra veggies. . . .

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (14 1/2 Oz. Size) Diced Tomatoes (Fire Roasted Are Great)
  • 2 cans (6 Oz. Size) Tomato Paste
  • 2 Tablespoons Vinegar (red Wine, Balsamic, Etc)
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Crushed (or To Taste)
  • 1 Tablespoon Spice Mix (provincial Herbs, McCormick's Garlic And Herb, Etc)
  • 1 can (6 Oz. Size) Olives, Pitted Black Or Green (optional)
  • 1 jar 6 Ounce Jar, Artichoke Hearts, Diced/quartered (optional)
  • 1 bag 16 Ounce Package, Your Favorite Pasta
  • 1 bag 8 Ounce Bag, Shredded Cheese (mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano, Etc)

Preparation

Dump all the ingredients (except pasta and cheese) into a large crockpot, give it a good stir and cook on low until the house smells wonderful! (About 3 hours.)

About ten minutes before you are ready to serve, cook the pasta according to directions on the package and then drain it.

Serve sauce over pasta with a sprinkling of cheese.
