Description

Taking my love for a great bbq burger and combining it with my love for pizza!

Ingredients

  • 1 package 12 Inch Gourmet Pizza Crust
  • 3 Tablespoons Basil Pesto (preferred Brand- Classico)
  • 14 ounces, fluid Jar Pizza Sauce (personal Preference On Amount Used)
  • 2 whole Large Sweet Vidalia Onions, Peeled, Cut In Half, And Thinly Sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 8 ounces, weight Bacon
  • 1 pound Ground Sirloin
  • 2 Tablespoons Gourmet Burger Seasoning (preferred Brand- Weber)
  • 8 ounces, weight Sharp White Cheddar Cheese, Grated (I Prefer Cabot Cheese)
  • 8 ounces, weight Medium Cheddar Cheese, Grated
  • 1 whole Avocado, Cut In Half, Pitted, Peeled, Cut Into Slices
  • 2 whole Roma Tomatoes, Sliced
  • 1 jar Sliced Banana Peppers (use As Many As You Desire)

Preparation

Preheat a saute pan and heat up the olive oil.

Add sliced onions and cook over medium heat until soft but not brown. Sprinkle with sugar and turn heat to low. Continue cooking until onions get a nice caramel coloring. Take off heat and set aside.

Chop bacon and cook until crisp. Cool, crumble, and set aside.

Mix the ground sirloin with the burger seasoning. Cook until meat is no longer pink. Take off heat and set aside.

Grate both cheeses– place in bowls seperately.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Line pizza pan with non-stick foil and place your crust on top. Spread pizza crust with basil pesto and then top with desired amount of pizza sauce, spreading evenly. Next top with the seasoned sirloin. Then the caramelized onions. Next the crumbled bacon. Top with the grated medium cheddar cheese- spreading evenly. And then do the same with the grated white cheddar cheese.

Bake for 20-30 minutes. (Time varies depending on your personal preference for crispness).

Cool at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Top with sliced avocado, Roma tomatoes, and banana peppers.
