Description

Restaurant-style vegetarian lettuce wraps that are quick and easy to make at home.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE TOFU:
  • Cooking Spray
  • 1 block 15-oz. Size, Firm Tofu, Cut Into Small Cubes
  • 2 teaspoons Lite Soy Sauce
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • 1 cup Red Bell Pepper, Small Dice
  • 1 cup Red Onion, Small Dice
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic, Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Ginger, Grated
  • ½ teaspoons Red Pepper Flakes
  • ½ teaspoons Sriracha Hot Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Mirin (can Substitute White Wine Vinegar Or Sherry Vinegar If Mirin Is Unavailable)
  • 2 Tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Spicy Brown Mustard
  • 12 whole Romaine Lettuce Leaves

Preparation

Start by heating a large skillet or pan over medium heat.

Add a spray or two of cooking spray and add the tofu cubes to the pan. Cook for 5-10 minutes, turning it a couple of times. When tofu is browned, add the soy sauce, stir to coat well, cook another 5 minutes. Transfer tofu to a bowl and set aside.

In the same pan, add another spray of cooking spray, and add the bell pepper, onion, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and Sriracha and cook 10 minutes or until vegetables are softened.

Add the mirin and cook 3-5 minutes. If you don’t have mirin, you can substitute with white wine or sherry vinegar.

Next add the hoisin and spicy brown mustard and stir well. Lastly, add the tofu back into the pan and toss well to coat well.

Serve the tofu wrapped in lettuce leaves and enjoy!
