My late grandma made this for me when I was a little girl. And now I make it for my six grandkids. Goes great with Easter ham!
Pour the boiling water over the jello and red hots and stir until both are dissolved. The red hots may take a while to melt. Let cool for five minutes, then add lemon juice and applesauce. Stir and pour into a serving dish. Let set until almost jelled. Beat the cream cheese and milk until fluffy. Pour over the jello mixture and marble through the jello with a knife. Chill for at least two hours until completely set.

My Gram made this recipe for me, too–I don’t like crushed pineapple so this was a good salad for her to make.
