Description

My mother-in-law grew up in Sweden. This recipe is truly Swedish, nothing like the bag of meatballs from IKEA. These are never missing from any of our holiday tables. We stay up hours chatting and making batches of these!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Sirloin
  • 1 pound Ground Pork
  • ½ pounds Ground Veal
  • 1 cup Half-and-Half Cream
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 3 teaspoons Salt
  • 1-½ teaspoon Allspice
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Cloves
  • 2 cloves Crushed Garlic
  • 1 whole Small To Medium Sized Onion
  • 1 cup Fine Dry Unseasoned Bread Crumbs
  • Butter, For Frying

Preparation

Mix together everything except bread crumbs and butter. Blend thoroughly.

Form into small balls. Roll in bread crumbs.

Fry in butter until golden brown. Drain.

Serve warm. They are just as delicious cold the next day!

They are even better the second day served cold. We make batches of them every Christmas Eve!

These are the first Swedish meatballs I have ever made, and they turned out wonderfully. We had a few leftovers, but they didn’t stay left over for long.

These have a the great, soft texture you expect and a fantastic flavor. I made a simple beef-stock gravy with a bit of cream added at the end and served them with egg noodles. I will definitely be making them again. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful family recipe.
