A quick way to make stuffed crust pizza at home.
1. Prepare the crust dough mix according to package directions (do not pre bake it).
2. Roll the dough out into a circular shape and press it into your pizza pan.
3. Place cheese sticks along the edges of the dough and fold the dough over them, covering the cheese stick entirely (making the ‘stuffed crust’). Make sure there are no cracks or the cheese might ooze out (as you can see in the picture, that happened to me).
4. If your dough recipe calls for you to prick it and pre- bake it for a few minutes (normally 5 minutes at 475 degrees F), go ahead and do that.
5. Take the crust out of the oven (be careful it is hot!) and then pour pizza sauce across the surface of the crust. Sprinkle cheese, pineapple and Canadian bacon on the sauce. Put more cheese on top of all of that if you want to.
6. Put it back in the oven and cook according to your dough directions (normally 10 to 15 minutes at 475 degrees F or until crust is brown/cheese has melted).
COOKS NOTES –
This recipe can be modified for any toppings and seasonings you like! I just picked these because they are my daughter’s favorite combo. Don’t forget to pull out the spices and play with them too. Sometimes I will incorporate oregano, thyme, garlic powder into the dough or sauce. Basically think of things you like and experiment, have fun with it!
This makes a pretty large pizza because of the two packs of dough. It also depends on how you cut it, if you cut a triangle slice per cheese stick that would be 8 slices. You could probably make a smaller one by dropping down to one pack of dough and fewer cheese sticks. Maybe 6 cheese sticks for a smaller pizza or even 4 to make a “personal” sized pizza.
Depending on how you shape your dough, you could possibly even make a square pizza with a cookie sheet (for folks who don’t have a round pizza pan in the kitchen!)
