Description

Sloppy Joes get slimmed down using ground turkey instead of beef. Also these Sloppy Joes have a smoky kick to them! Check out related link for original blog post.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Package Ground Turkey (I Used 93% Lean, 1.3 Pounds)
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • 3 whole Garlic Cloves, Chopped
  • 1 whole Red Bell Pepper, chopped
  • 1 pinch Salt And Pepper
  • 1 can 14oz Can Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Tomato Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (you Can Put Less If You Don’t Like Heat)
  • 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Mustard Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Chili Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 4 whole Crusty Kaiser Rolls

Preparation

In a saute pan sprayed with cooking spray cook the ground turkey for 5 minutes over medium high heat. Then add the onion, garlic, bell pepper, and a pinch of salt and pepper and cook an additional 5 minutes.

Then add the remaining ingredients (except the rolls) and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Then serve on kaiser rolls.
