Description

Easy Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef. Such amazing flavor!

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ½ cups Soy Sauce
  • ¼ cups White Wine
  • ¼ cups Cooking Sherry
  • ½ teaspoons White Wine Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Molassas
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • ½ Tablespoons Peanut Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 pound Beef Stew Meat
  • 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch, Dissolved In 1/4 Cup Water

Preparation

In your slow cooker (I used a small one) combine the garlic powder, soy sauce, white wine, cooking sherry, white wine vinegar, sesame oil, molasses, ginger, onion powder, red pepper flakes, peanut butter and brown sugar. Whisk to combine.

Add your stew meat. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until meat is fork tender.

30 minutes before serving, add the cornstarch to 1/4 cup of water and stir to combine. Pour into the crock pot. This will help thicken up the sauce.

Once thickened, serve over rice.

I was super excited about this based on the reviews. I got all the ingredients ready and set them out for my husband. He cooked it all up. I asked him how it turned out and he said it was REALLY salty. The kids and him could hardly take more than a couple bites. I’m not sure what happened. Oh well.

I agree with the previous reviewer, that this dish has a nice, complex taste. I substituted some of the ingredients for items I had in my pantry (apple cider vinegar instead of white wine vinegar, olive oil instead of sesame oil), but the taste was still great. My beef was a little dry, but I left it in the crockpot for more like 9-10 hours, because I work full-time and have a long commute.

This was super-easy and REALLY good! My hubby said it tasted like the best take-out! I didn’t have some of the ingredients on hand, so I subbed some items in, etc. – but it was REALLY good – thanks!

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I approached this recipe; I couldn’t imagine making good Mongolian Beef at home, especially in a slow cooker. How wrong I was! This recipe is fantastic: Simple to make, and the beef has a complex, rich flavor with a nice kick to it. My family scarfed down every bite and are already asking me when I’ll be making it again.

I made this for my family yesterday. My husband says it is superliscious delicious! Oh, and “it’s a keeper”. (We kinda liked it). I might use half of the soy sauce it calls for and a little more peanut butter for less salty and more peanut sauce taste, but it really is a great asian sauce recipe. I had some this morning for breakfast…mmmMMMM awesome heated up the next day!
