Made this with some of the Winesap apples that my in-laws gave me. My house smelled amazing while this was cooking and my family totally loves this applesauce! It was so good that I made 2 batches the same day and froze the bounty. Freezes beautifully and tastes great when thawed. Winner

Easy & much tastier than store bought. I left the peels on & blended with immersion blender- way easier than peeling & just as delicious( no chunks of peel left,, trust me).

I went apple picking and was trying to find an easy recipe to use my apples. This recipe was PERFECT! It made my house smell so good and the applesauce was so delicious. Thanks for the yummy recipe!

love this! Here is what I did:
16qts sliced apples (after they were peeled and cored)
4 1/2 c water
4 1/2 c sugar
3 Tbsp cinnamon
Divided the apples between 3 large crockpots and cooked for 9 hours. We just finished the canning process. This is a wonderful recipe! We ended up with 12 pints of applesauce!

Do you use a variety of apples? Just wondering which types are best for applesauce – thanks!

Can’t wait to try this!!!
I’m a bit of a slow cooker maniac (I only have 2 :), and we have two mature apple trees in our yard which we usually get the most amazing juice from one, but the other is used for pies etc, so this will definitely have to be made later in the year from some of those.
Thank you for posting this.
Lou.

@Barbsr – I never knew homemade applesauce could be so amazing, but now I can’t buy it from the store anymore. Every house should come with a slow cooker! Thanks for your comment.

The slow cooker angle frees up the stove and will allow me to come home to a wonderful aromatic kitchen! Great Idea!

To be clear, *I* don’t have an orchard. LOL. We had to travel to one, like most people. Well worth it, though!
