Description

If you haven’t had mustard-based bbq sauce, you are missing out! My husband is from South Carolina. This is where I was introduced to mustard BBQ sauce. Bessinger’s in the Charleston area is the best! We always bring a few bottles home with us. When we don’t have a bottle, but do have a craving, we use this recipe. It’s not Bessinger’s, but it does give us our fix.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Pork Roast
  • 1 cup Prepared Yellow Mustard
  • ½ cups Cider Vinegar
  • ⅓ cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste

Preparation

Rinse pork roast. Season with salt and pepper. Place in a crock pot. Cook on low for about 8 hours. About an hour before pork roast is done, mix all remaining ingredients in small saucepan. Simmer on low for about 30 minutes. Remove from heat, let sit for about 30 minutes. When pork roast is done cooking, shred with a fork and knife. Pour BBQ sauce over the meat. This is great served on King’s Hawaiian sweet sandwich rolls, or as is. Enjoy!

I have made this recipe twice and it was amazing both times. I make a super-simple rub for the pork that consists of 3 Tbsp. kosher salt and 1 tsp. ground black pepper. I rinse the roast, pat it dry, rub the roast, and put it in the crock pot for at least 9 hours. The BBQ sauce is delicious as is! Make this and you’ll love it. The left-overs are great too. Thank you for the recipe!
