Description

Tomato paste and spicy red pepper flakes work with the shrimp to create a delicious Portuguese style dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 package Linguini Or Other Thin Spaghetti
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1 piece Butter (pat Sized)
  • 4 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • ½ whole Onion
  • 4 whole Shallots
  • 2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • ¼ cups Dry White Wine
  • ½ pounds Shrimp, Peeled And Cleaned
  • Red Pepper Flakes, to taste
  • 1 bunch Parsley (fresh)

Preparation

1. Slice the onion and shallots into thin strips.
2. Heat olive oil and butter in a pan. Once mixture has started to heat up, add onions and shallots.
3. On low heat, saute the onion/shallot mixture for 5 to 7 minutes. Do not let them burn!
4. Put on a pot of boiling water (salt to taste).
5. Once onions are soft, add tomato paste and white wine.
6. Increase the heat and mix well.
7. Put the pasta into the pot of boiling water.
8. Add the shrimp. If you are using cooked shrimp, turn down the heat to simmer. If using frozen shrimp, keep it at a higher temperature but do not let the mixture thicken too much.
9. Add red pepper flakes to taste.
10. Cover the pan with the shrimp mixture and let it simmer.
11. Drain pasta and add to the shrimp.
12. Serve and garnish with chopped up parsley.
