A great way to use leftover ham.
In a large saucepan of salted boiling water, cook pasta until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of cooking water. Drain pasta well and set aside. While the pasta is cooking, in a heavy skillet cook the onion and cabbage in the oil over moderate heat. Cook until vegetables are golden and al dente. Add ham and seasonings and cook for about 2 minutes until cabbage is tender. Add cream and simmer until slightly thickened .
Add the cabbage and ham mixture to pasta over low heat. Add enough cooking water to thin the sauce to desired consistency. Add Parmesan cheese, combine and serve with a green salad.
