Description

My family’s take on goulash! So good and cheesy! Perfect for a cold winter day!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Or Turkey
  • 1  Medium Yellow Onion, Chopped
  • 2 cans (14 1/2 Oz. Size) Stewed Tomatoes
  • 12 ounces, weight Elbow Noodles
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Seasoned Salt
  • 1 jar (16 Oz. Size) Spaghetti Sauce
  • 2 cups Grated Cheese

Preparation

In a large pan over medium heat, brown the meat, stirring to break it up as it cooks. Once meat starts to cook, add onion. Cook until onion is soft then add the stewed tomatoes. Leave this on medium so the tomatoes can cook down.

Now you can start the noodles. Cook them according to package instructions for al dente. They will absorb some of the moisture from the meat mix if they are overcooked, so al dente is best.

Now that your noodles are cooking, get back to the tomato/hamburger mixture. Add seasonings and stir to combine. Let it just cook away until the noodles are done. Drain the noodles when done.

Remove meat mixture from heat and add spaghetti sauce. It really is better if you use homemade but if you have to buy it I love the kind with the veggie chunks mixed in. Mix the noodles and meat mixture together and let it cool down just a bit. Then you can add as much or as little grated cheese as you would like. Keep in mind, if you add the cheese when it’s too hot it will get stringy.
