Description

This is a recipe that is simple and kids especially seem to really enjoy this. It’s a recipe my sister and I came up with to use leftover mashed potatoes with, but liked it so much that I made a recipe using instant potatoes for when there are no leftovers.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Hamburger
  • 1 envelope (1 Oz. Packet) Taco Seasoning
  • 3 cups Water, Plus 4 Ounces For Taco Seasoning
  • 4 ounces, weight Butter
  • 1 can (12 Oz. Can) Evaporated Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Garlic (or Garlic Powder)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 3 cups Instant Potatoes
  • 2 cups Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 cups Doritos, Crushed

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brown hamburger, then stir in taco seasoning and 4 ounces of water and set aside. Put the remaining 3 cups of water, butter, milk, garlic, and sour cream in a medium-sized pan and bring to a boil. Take off heat and add instant potatoes.

Take a 9 x13 baking pan and spray with cooking oil. Put potatoes in the bottom of the pan. Layer the cheese on top of the potatoes. Then layer hamburger on top of the cheese. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Then add crushed Doritos on top and serve.
