Description

Savory meat pie, great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Pork
  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 2 whole Large Onions, Chopped
  • 5 cups Water, Divided
  • 2 Tablespoons Sausage Seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Pepper
  • 1 pinch Sage
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¾ cups Flour
  • 4 whole Pie Crusts In Pie Pans
  • 4 packages Rolled Pie Crust

Preparation

Cook meat and onions in a big soup pot until meat is no longer pink. Add 4 cups of the water, heat to a boil. Add seasonings. Dissolve flour in the remaining 1 cup of water. Slowly add water and flour mixture to the boiling meat and seasoning pot, stirring constantly.

Pour into 4 prepared pie pans (with crust). Top with rolled pie crust. Cut slits in the top crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Eat right away or freeze. These freeze beautifully. To reheat pie after freezing, bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

As there are just the 2 of us, could I make this using ramekins? Would you cook the bottom crust first?

I am going to make this for dinner tomorrow night I think! Do you think it would work alright to use all beef?

Looks Great! Do you really bake and then freeze? Seems like crust would burn. Would it work to freeze in unbaked crust?
