It is comfort food from back in the 50s. We made it then and still do. It is just good eating!
Cut wieners into 1/4-inch slices crosswise. In a cast iron slillet or Dutch oven, melt butter, and over medium high heat, saute weiners, onions, and peppers until browned. Add tomatoes, with their juice, stir well. Prepare cornbread mix as instructed on package (you’ll typically need milk, as directed in the mix package). Pour or spoon over top of the mixture. Bake in a 400ºF oven 20 to 25 minutes, or until cornbread topping is golden brown.
