Description

Flank steak slow cooked with onions and peppers, topped with Provolone cheese served on a hoagie roll.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ pound Flank Steak
  • 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 whole Large Onion, Sliced
  • 2 whole Large Bell Peppers, Seeded, Sliced Into Strips
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 4 cups Beef Broth
  • 8 whole Hoagie Rolls
  • 4 ounces, weight Provolone Cheese

Preparation

Season flank steak with black pepper and garlic.

Spray a crockpot with cooking spray; add onions, flank steak and top with sliced bell pepper. Add Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Set crockpot on low for 8 hours or 4 hours on high.

Just before serving, take your hoagie roll, cut it in half lengthwise and carefully core out some of the center. This will reduce the calories of your sandwich and it will hold more filling.

Take the flank steak out of the crockpot and thinly slice it; it will fall apart. Add 3 ounces of flank steak to each hoagie roll and top with onions and peppers. Add 1/2 ounce of Provolone cheese to each sandwich and place on a baking sheet and broil until cheese melts. Make sure it doesn’t burn. Do the same for the remaining sandwiches.
