Description

The best lasagna, EVER.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Onion
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 pound Ground Beef, 93% Fat Free
  • 14 ounces, weight Diced Tomatoes, Canned
  • 10 ounces, weight Tomato Sauce, Canned
  • 6 ounces, weight Tomato Paste
  • 2 whole Bay Leaves
  • 16 ounces, weight Ricotta Cheese, Low Fat
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 2 Tablespoons Any Combination Of Fresh Basil, Fresh Oregano, And Fresh Thyme
  • ⅓ cups Parmesan Cheese
  • 8 ounces, weight Mozzarella Cheese
  • 12 whole No Boil Lasagna Noodles

Preparation

Preheat the oven according to the directions on the No-Boil noodles package. Oven temperature and cooking time may vary with the brand of noodles.

Coarsely chop the onions and garlic, and saute them in the olive oil on medium high heat for no more than 1 minute. Add the ground beef and cook until the meat crumbles are no longer pink. Then add the diced tomatoes, the tomato sauce, and the tomato paste, stirring well to combine. Add the bay leaves to the meat mixture, turn the temperature to medium low, and allow to cook for 30 minutes. Then remove from meat and set aside.

While the sauce is simmering, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, herbs, and parmesan cheese. Mix well, and set aside.

When ready to assemble the lasagna, place enough sauce to barely coat the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with 4 No-Boil lasagna noodles, followed by 1/3 of the sauce mixture and 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, mixed well to combine; top with 1/3 of the mozzarella. Repeat this layer cycle two more times. Top with a little extra Parmesan cheese on top, and bake according to the directions for the noodles.

Serve to your family, and wait for them to ask for more!
