Description

This is one of my boyfriend’s favorite dishes. The touch of lemon in the sauce make the tomatoes and the sausage delectable!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Italian Sweet Or Hot Sausage
  • 1 package (12 Oz. Size) Barilla Three Cheese Tortellini
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1-½ cup Heavy Cream
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 whole Lemon, 1/2 Zest And All The Juice
  • 1 pint Cherry Or Grape Tomatoes, Cut In Half
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Ground Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Parsley, Chopped

Preparation

Heat a nonstick skillet on medium high heat. Brown sausage and drain fat. Set aside.

Boil water and cook tortellini per directions on bag.

In the same skillet used to cook sausage, melt butter and add flour. Whisk together and let cook for 2 minutes. Add heavy cream and continue whisking for a few more minutes. Add garlic, lemon zest and juice, grape tomatoes, sausage, a sprinkle of salt and fresh ground pepper; let simmer.

Once tortellini are cooked and drained, add into sauce and stir to combine. Sprinkle with parsley when serving.

made this yesterday and it was incredible. The taste and appearance was far better than Carraba’s or Olive Garden. Added parmesan cheese, more lemon juice and a touch of nutmeg when adding parsley and basil.
