Meaty, cheesy, creamy, a bit of crunch on top—comfort food from 5 ingredients. This is a go-to winter meal for meat and potato lovers. Leftovers are even better.
Preheat oven to 375ºF.
Crumble raw ground beef to cover bottom of 9×13 inch dish. Spread chopped onion over meat layer, then push down a bit to even things out. Sprinkle grated cheese evenly over meat/onion layer. Spread the cream of chicken soup to completely cover the cheese layer. Arrange tater tots to completely cover dish from edge to edge.
Bake 1 hour. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes if you can possibly wait that long. Serve with green vegetable or salad to give the impression that there is something healthy going on amongst all that comfort.
Recipe can be cut in half if you don’t want many leftovers but that would be such a shame.
