Description

A soft, tasty bread that has everything you need – perfect for the picnic!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Dry Yeast
  • 2 cups Hot Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 pieces Eggs
  • 6 cups Flour
  • 2 cups Chopped Or Sliced Ham
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt, butter, eggs and flour. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth, about 8 minutes.

Lightly flour a large mixing, place the dough in the bowl, and sprinkle over olive oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Prepare the ham and cheese in a medium mixing bowl; set aside. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter, add garlic and olive oil.

Deflate the dough, and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll dough into a large rectangle, spread the butter mix over the surface, add spice after your own taste and then spread the cheese and ham evenly.

Roll up the dough from the long side (like when you make cinnamon rolls). You may want to cut the roll into 3 now, to be able to handle them.

Roll them a bit thinner, tuck the dough in on the sides and place on baking sheets. Let rise about 40 minutes, covered.

Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Let rest for a while before you cut it.
