Description

I fell in love with these burgers when there was still a Dinner by Design 30 minutes from me. They are no longer around, so I made them at home and they are even better. I also usually buy tzatziki sauce from Trader Joe’s, but that is even farther away, so I made the sauce from thenotetaker on Tasty Kitchen. So good and easy! Just make sure you use Greek yogurt (if you don’t have it, use sour cream or strained regular yogurt).

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Ground Sirloin
  • ¾ pounds Feta, Crumbled
  • 1-½ cup Black Olives, Slivered
  • 3 whole Oregano Sprigs, The Leaves Removed From The Stems And Chopped
  • 9 whole Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 1-½ cup Sun-dried Tomatoes, Diced

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients into the meat. When working with ground sirloin or ground beef, do not overwork the meat.

Form into oval-shaped patties, almost like a small football. Grill them to your preferred doneness. Keep in mind though that they are thicker than a regular hamburger, so adjust your time accordingly.

Serve them with tzatziki sauce (again, I made the recipe supplied by thenotetaker on this site) on a whole pita that has been fried slightly in olive oil. Enjoy!

I made these burgers yesterday to serve with krande20’s “Greek Roasted Vegetables” and they were both fantastic. I made the “Tzatziki Sauce” from thenotetaker, too. That’s right, 15 cloves of garlic in all.

I am trying to cut back on flour so I didn’t eat the Greek Burgers on pita bread but that would have been the perfect way to serve them. They look a little weird when you make them but it’s definitely a unique and delicious way to serve a burger. εύγευστος!
