Description

This is a family recipe that has been passed down for about four generations now.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 28 ounces, weight Diced Tomatoes (Large Can)
  • 28 ounces, weight Tomato Sauce (Large Can)
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Onion Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Thyme
  • 1-½ teaspoon Curry Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoons Cumin
  • ⅛ teaspoons Sage
  • ⅛ teaspoons Cayenne Pepper, Or To Taste (I Use A Lot!)
  • ⅛ teaspoons Paprika
  • 1 can Mushroom Pieces (Optional)

Preparation

- Brown hamburger meat (you may also use ground turkey, ground chicken, or go meatless)

– While the meat is browning, mix together your spices in a small spice bowl or use a mortar & pestle. (Also, if you are serving over pasta, this is a good time to get the pasta started.)

– Once meat is cooked, drain the grease and return to stove. Pour in spices and let cook for about two minutes.

– Pour in your tomato sauce and tomatoes. If you are using mushrooms, add them in. Let this cook for about 15 minutes. Serve over pasta or use the sauce in anything else requiring spaghetti sauce.

ENJOY!!

I would appreciate recipes with exact amounts, not just ‘large can’. I am outside the USA and our can sizes are likely different than yours. I’m very interested in trying this recipe if you can verify the amount in ounces, grams, cups, etc. Thank you!

Made this the other night. My family loved it. You could do a lot of different things with this recipe. I wasn’t impressed with the curry and cumin spice. So I may try this recipe without it. I can always add it in later. All in all it was very good.
