Delicious, easy and did I mention delicious? Goulash is something a little different to everyone and something that every time you say “I’m making goulash” people will respond with “What kind?”.
This particular version was something that my mom taught me that her mom taught her. So it’s a passed down version, that I’m sure goes even further than my grandmother. And it’s easy! And delicious and filling and mmmm.
Begin by browning ground beef and onions in a large frying pan over medium heat. Once browned, pour meat and onions into strainer to drain off the grease. Discard grease. Place the beef mixture back into the pan.
Mix in stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, elbow macaroni and water, stir until completely combined. Set the pan on medium to medium high heat, bringing mixture to a simmer. Cook for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Test noodles. If not cooked all the way through, add in more water 1 cup at a time and cook down before testing again.
Serve immediately. Serves 4.

Diane – No salt or pepper is needed, but you can certainly use it! We just have some heart problems in the house so we let people salt and pepper after the fact if we can help it.
