Description

An easy pasta dish that the whole family will love! Great for those who don’t care for ricotta that you usually find in this dish. Try it, you will love it!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 whole Yellow Onion, Finely Diced
  • 52 ounces, fluid Your Favorite Jarred Marinara Sauce
  • 1 pound Ziti Pasta
  • 12 ounces, weight Shredded Cheese Of Your Choice
  • 1-½ cup Sour Cream
  • Grated Fresh Parmesan

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 F. Butter a 9×13 baking dish.

Boil a pot of salted water.

While water is coming to a boil, heat a large skillet or pot over medium heat. Add the turkey and cook until browned. Add onion and saute until cooked through and onions are translucent. Add your marinara sauce and simmer 15 minutes.

When water has come to a full boil, add your ziti and cook according to package instructions for al dente. Then drain it and set aside.

Once pasta and sauce is ready, you are ready to layer the ingredients into your prepared baking dish as follows: 1/2 of the ziti, 1/2 of the shredded cheese, all of your sour cream and 1/2 of the sauce. Repeat these layers (except the sour cream layer). Top with grated Parmesan cheese as desired.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until hot and bubbly and cheese is melted.

This recipe can also be frozen. Prepare as directed above, but do not bake. On the day you want to serve, remove the ziti from the freezer and keep in the fridge until defrosted (about 8 hours). Bake for 30-35 minutes or until heated through.
