Pulled pork BBQ is one of our favorite foods. My sweetie often makes it in a pressure cooker but I am partial to my crockpot and below is my favorite way to season and prepare this pork. Adding BBQ sauce after is really optional because it has such a wonderful flavor. Try it and see what you think!
Combine sugar, seasonings and salt and mix well with a fork in a large bowl.
Coat the butt evenly with the seasoning. If possible wrap in plastic wrap and let sit overnight.
Mix the water and BBQ sauce. Put in the crockpot. Add the onions and garlic. Unwrap the butt (if needed) and put in the crockpot. Cook on low 12 hours or until fully cooked.
Shred with a fork and add additional BBQ sauce if desired. The flavor is great without the sauce, though!
