Nothing could be easier to throw together on a busy night than these Sloppy Joe Sandwiches (especially if you store cooked and seasoned ground beef in your freezer – see note below).
Start by browning your ground beef mixture:
In a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat, saute 1 chopped onion and 2 cloves of chopped garlic in about a tablespoon of olive oil for 5 minutes. Add ground beef and season well with kosher salt and pepper to taste. Stir to break up the beef into bite size pieces as it browns. Cook beef for a total of 7-10 minutes, or until the meat is no longer pink. Remove from heat and drain excess grease. Add the remaining sloppy joe ingredients (except the buns) and heat over medium; stirring frequently for about 5 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns or dinner rolls.
Note – I like to make several pounds of cooked ground beef at a time, then drain, cool, and divide into 1 pound portions to store in the freezer for use later.
