This simple new take on a comforting classic will satisfy the whole family—parents included!
Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and frozen broccoli. Boil according to the pasta package directions for al dente. Drain and set aside.
Meanwhile, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk to form a paste. Cook 1-2 minutes. Slowly pour in milk, constantly whisking briskly to remove lumps. Continue cooking over medium heat, whisking constantly, until milk mixture thickens. Remove from heat and whisk in shredded cheese. Add salt to taste.
Add drained macaroni and broccoli back into the pot that they were cooked in. Pour cheese sauce over macaroni and stir to combine.
