A perfect recipe for chilly days!
1. Brown beef in butter and oil mixture. Reserve in crock pot. Add salt and pepper to taste.
2. In the same frying pan, brown mushrooms and onions. Add salt and oil, if needed. Add minced garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute.
3. Deglaze with marsala. Add chicken stock and thyme.
4. Bring to a boil and pour in crock pot.
5. Cover and cook for 4 to 5 hours on LOW setting.
6. After 4 hours of cooking, you can add 1 cup barley and continue cooking for 1 hour and 15 minutes more.
