Description

A tangy, modern twist on an old classic. Don’t hate on the Joe. These babies are delightful, especially when paired with fries!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE MEAT:
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 1  Small Onion, Chopped
  • 1 pound Ground Turkey
  • ½  Green Pepper, Choppped
  • ½  Red Pepper, Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • Slider Rolls, For Serving
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • ½ cups Ketchup
  • ½ cups Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 can Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Mustard
  • ½ teaspoons Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Hot Sauce
  • ¾ cups Your Favorite BBQ Sauce

Preparation

For the meat, heat a large skillet on medium heat and melt the butter. Add the onion and cook until fragrant, about 3 minutes. Add meat and cook for about 2 minutes before adding bell peppers and garlic. Continue to cook until meat is cooked through and drain any excess fat if necessary.

Now it’s time to make sauce! Add the sauce ingredients to the meat. Season with salt and pepper, as desired. Bring to a slight boil and then turn down to a simmer. Simmer for 15–20 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Serve on slider buns.

These taste best when served with French fries and lots of ketchup. It’s a known fact of life.
