Description

Delicious flavor and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ziti Pasta
  • 1 whole Onion
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage
  • 2 jars (24 Oz. Jar) Plain Spaghetti Sauce
  • 6 ounces, weight Provolone Cheese Slices
  • 1-½ cup Sour Cream
  • 6 ounces, weight Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 2-½ Tablespoons Grated Parmesan Cheese

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350F. Cook pasta according to directions on package. Drain. While ziti is cooking, chop onion and brown onion and sausage in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add spaghetti sauce. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and add half of the ziti to the bottom. Add provolone cheese, a layer of sour cream, and half of the sauce mixture. Add a layer of remaining ziti. Next comes the mozzarella cheese and remaining sauce. Top off with Parmesan cheese. Bake in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Garlic bread and Caesar salad make for great side dishes to complement this delicious dish.

This was good and a nice, easy alternative to ricotta filled lasagna. Next time I will kick it up a bit and add more Italian seasonings and garlic.
