This is a hearty, tasty casserole that my whole family loves. Add an extra apple if you like. The raisins give a little extra sweetness (but not too much) and complement the flavors. It is quick to make and there are never any leftovers!
1. Cut up bread to make 8 cups and put in a large bowl.
2. Brown sausage and drain. Add the water, onion and peppers. Cover and cook until onion and peppers are soft. Stir in garlic salt.
3. Pour the sausage mixture over the bread cubes and add apples and raisins. Stir to mix.
4. Grease a 9×13 baking pan and spread mixture evenly. Top with cheese.
5. Bake at 350ºF for 25-30 minutes.
