Description

Comfort food at its finest!!

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 whole Medium Onion, Chopped
  • 1 whole Green Bell Pepper, Stem And Seeds Removed, Then Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Oregano
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Basil
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper, Ground
  • 1 teaspoon Salt, More To Taste
  • 1 can (14.5 Oz. Can) Diced Tomatoes With Juice
  • 1 can (14.5 Oz. Can) Tomato Sauce
  • 1 can (6 Oz. Can) Tomato Paste
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • ⅓ cups Water
  • 1 pound Elbow Macaroni
  • Optional For Serving: Grated Parmesan Cheese

Preparation

Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until veggies are soft, about 5 minutes. You’re basically sweating the onion and pepper. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for about 30 seconds. Then add the ground beef and continue to cook, stirring and breaking up the chunks of meat. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add the herbs, pepper and salt to the meat and mix well.

Add the canned tomatoes with their juices, the tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar and water. Mix well and bring to a simmer. Continue simmering over medium heat while you cook the pasta. You want to let this simmer for about 20 minutes, so you can wait to start your water heating for the pasta until you have the sauce simmering.

Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil. Add the macaroni and cook, stirring occasionally, according to package instructions for al dente. While the pasta is cooking, taste your sauce and adjust for seasoning if needed. Drain your pasta. Mix the macaroni into the tomato sauce. Serve topped with Parmesan cheese. Enjoy!!
