I used this recipe to make cookie cakes for my son’s birthday. I did use butter instead of Crisco and omitted the nutmeg and cinnamon (sorry, just couldn’t do it!). I liked the taste of only brown sugar and the generous amount of vanilla. The consistency was perfect for a cookie cake, which is why I’m posting this review. I’ve tried other recipes and not had as much luck.

We loved these cookies. I followed the recipe but since I have a convection oven, I shortened the cooking time and temperature by a little bit. The shortening did turn me off a little bit, but I’ve been having problems with my cookies going flat, and these didn’t. It’s probably the shortening fixing that, but I could tell the difference in taste between that and real butter.

I’m sorry, but we really didn’t like these cookies. I baked up a dozen and after my family tasted them, I threw the rest of the cookie dough away. It may be that they were just too sweet for our taste – I normally make chocolate chip cookies with semi-sweet chips and I’ve never tried a recipe that was all brown sugar. (p.s. I always use shortening when I make chocolate chip cookies so they are soft and don’t go flat, so that didn’t turn me off of this recipe.)

This is my very first review since I’m still a newbie here. I see a lot of 5 mitt ratings and I keep thinking, come on be honest people. Well folks, I’m delighted to say that my first review is for the best homemade chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had. Aimee rocked out some killer cookies here and I hope everyone tries them. My family is tearing through them as we speak. In fact, boy did I get some dirty looks when I told my 7 and 10 year old that they couldn’t have more then 3. Whew! Thanks for sharing this great recipe. Oh, one last thing, every time I’ve ever made chocolate chip cookies at home, they’ve always come out flat and hardened. If they were thick they were cakey. These were about 1/2″ thick and chewy and delicious.

These were fantastic! Crisco sort of makes me cringe, but I followed the recipe and they came out wonderfully. Thanks!

These are similar to the cookies I make, and cookies with Crisco are the best!

These look SOOOOO good! And butter flavored Crisco is fantastic. I support its use.
