A bit of a twist on the traditional Christmas treat! Family-friendly recipe that the kids will love.
In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and cream cheese. Beat until well blended. Add sugar, eggs, and extracts. Beat well. Stir in flour and baking powder.
Form into a ball and chill for 2 hours. (If I am in a hurry or don’t feel like waiting around for 2 hours, I place the dough in the freezer for about 20 minutes. It works just as well.)
Heat oven to 350ºF.
Divide dough into quarters. Work with one quarter at a time, keeping the rest refrigerated. Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place onto ungreased baking sheet.
Decorate and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on rack and store. We like to decorate these cookies with sprinkles and decorations before baking. However, if you prefer a frosted sugar cookie, simply let cool and decorate.
This is a kid-friendly recipe and makes 4 dozen cookies.
