Description

An old standby, this breakfast dish always delivers—an easy breakfast, brunch or late-night casserole.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Hot Sausage
  • 4 slices Thin White Bread, Buttered, Crusts Removed, Cubed
  • 7  Large Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Grated

Preparation

Saute sausage and drain well. Grease a 9×13 casserole and put the bread cubes in the bottom of it. Crumble sausage over bread. Beat eggs, milk, mustard and salt together and pour over the meat. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake for 1 hour at 350ºF.

May be frozen.

I made this for a family brunch–SO GOOD and so easy to make. Highly recommended. I used regular sausage rather than hot, and I used a quarter teaspoon of salt. I also made a dairy-free version of this recipe for company (soy milk, tapioca flour cheese, vegan margarine), and it was very good, too.
