What can be more comforting and all-American than hamburger, tater tots and Velveeta?
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Brown the hamburger and onion in a large pan. Drain the fat.
Add the cans of soup, milk, salt, pepper, Velveeta cheese and 3/4 of the bag of Tater Tots. Cook and stir until the cheese melts.
Pour the mixture into a 9×13 casserole dish and top with remaining Tater Tots. Bake for 45 minutes until Tater Tots are brown. Let the casserole cool for 10 minutes.

This is too funny! I never thought this was a common dish. My pre-school used to serve this, and finally when I was too old my mom had to ask for the recipe because I loved it so much. Your version seems a bit different, but I’ll have to try it!
