This goes well with Thanksgiving and Christmas Feasts!
In large mixing bowl combine the orange jello with the boiling hot water. Mix until jello is completely dissolved and then add 1 pint of orange sherbert. Once mixture is free off sherbert lumps add in the mandarin oranges. Then you may mix in the thawed Cool Whip. Once all is mixed well pour into serving dish (I use a 7×11 pyrex), and top with pecans if so desired. Refrigerate for 4-6 hours till well chilled.

Susan, I agree with you. I’m not a Cool Whip fan – I’d rather make real whipped cream, but this recipe is great. I love love love Jello salads and no one seems to make them like they use to. Some people think it is a blessing but I miss Jello salads on Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving.
I give this recipe five mitts, too.

This is probably the only time you will ever catch me using cool whip! This salad is absolutely delicious, it tastes just like a Creamsicle (with some juicy orange chunks)! It is so good! I’m so glad you put it on this on site.
