Description

We had this for supper many Wednesday evenings at MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) when I was growing up. The lady that cooked for us was also the head cook at our school. She gave me this recipe at my church wedding shower 34 years ago. Comfort food at it’s best!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Hamburger
  • 1 whole Small Onion, Chopped
  • 1 pound Can Pork & Beans, Partially Drained
  • 2 cans Tomato Soup, 10 Ounce Cans
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar, Packed Firmly
  • 1 Tablespoon Prepared Yellow Mustard

Preparation

Brown hamburger and onions until hamburger is no longer pink. Drain well. Place in an oven proof casserole dish and add remaining ingredients, mixing well. Bake uncovered at 400F for 45 minutes.

I have a cast iron Dutch oven that works wonderfully for this. The casserole gets all brown and crusty around the edges.

Serve with a salad and French bread.

This is delicious!
It’s very similar to my Momma’s recipe for Bean Burger Bake which I’ve enjoyed for the last 60 years.
This one is basically the same so…now I have 2 favorites.
