Description

This is adapted from the first recipe we learned to cook in Home Ec in Junior High School! It is named after our Home Ec Teacher. It is still a favorite comfort food recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 package Wide Egg Noodles
  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 whole Medium Onion
  • 1 whole Red Bell Pepper
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • Salt And Pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • 4 ounces, weight Tomato Paste
  • 15 ounces, fluid Canned Tomato Sauce
  • 8 ounces, weight Sour Cream
  • ½ cups Milk
  • 1-½ cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Cooking Spray

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350 F

2. Bring package of egg noodles to boil in salted water (al dente)

3. While noodles are boiling, brown ground beef in pan along with onion, pepper, and garlic.

4. Add salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to ground beef mixture and mix well while heating. Add in tomato paste and sauce.

5. Mix sour cream and milk well. Add salt and pepper.

6. Add sour cream mixture to cooked and drained egg noodles.

7. Mix together ground beef mixture and egg noodle mixture in casserole dish that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray.

8. Pour cheddar cheese evenly on top of casserole.

9. Bake for about 25 minutes or until cheese is browned and bubbling!

sounds delish! I asssume the tomato products get mixed in with the meat before adding to the noodles. I just wanted to make sure! thanks!
