These beans are great to throw together in the morning, so they will be done when you get home from work! The smell that will fill your house is fabulous!
Cover beans in a wide bowl with a few inches of water and soak overnight. This step can not be skipped!
In the morning, drain your beans and place them and all remaining ingredients in crock pot and stir. Bacon can be put in the pot raw, it will cook thoroughly with the other ingredients. If the mixture looks a little thick, add about 1/8 cups of water. If you like yours very thick, no water required! Salt and pepper to taste.
Cook on low for 12-14 hours or until desired doneness, stirring if possible. I tasted mine at 8 and 10 hours and found they needed to be cooked a little longer, but to each his own!
