This is an easy to make, healthy, and delicious recipe you can make for your toddler transitioning to solid food. Abalone is considered a delicacy in South Korea, so this dish is usually reserved for special occasions. Treat your little one like royalty and serve them this special dish!
Soak uncooked rice in water for at least 20 minutes.
Wash abalone with a toothbrush until you don’t see any dark colors from the surface and the side. If you look at the shell, you should notice that there are thin and thick areas. The top of the thin shell area contains the teeth and the thick shell area contains the innards. Use your spoon and gently go around the abalone to take out the whole meat from the shell. Then take out the innards from the meat. When you cut the top part of the meat, you should see the teeth (I found 2 teeth) which you should take out.
Cut veggies and abalone into tiny bite-sized pieces.
Over medium high heat, add sesame oil, all the veggies, abalone, and salt, then cook for 3–4 minutes. Add soaked rice and stir fry for 2 minutes. Add water and boil and cook for about 20 minutes. Turn off the stove and drizzle additional sesame oil.
