Description

This Sloppy Joe recipe makes some of the best Sloppy Joe sandwiches we have ever eaten. I used pita bread for the recipe because it is what I had on hand, but these are so bun-worthy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Chuck
  • 1 whole Medium Sized Onion, Diced
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Pickled Jalapeños, Diced
  • 1 whole Red Bell Pepper, Stem And Seeds Removed, Diced
  • 2 teaspoons Pickled Jalapeno Juice
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Size) Tomato Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 Tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon Molasses
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Prepared Mustard
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 1 package Sandwich Bread/buns (8 Count Package)

Preparation

Brown the meat and the onion in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up the meat into crumbles as it cooks. Once the hamburger is browned, pour the grease out of the pan and discard.

Add the garlic, jalapeno, and red pepper into the skillet and cook 5 minutes more, stirring occasionally. Stir in the rest of the ingredients (except the buns, silly), reduce heat to low, and simmer for 30 minutes.

Warm sandwich bread in a 200 F oven for about 5-10 minutes, then slice them open and spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bread.
