Description

Creamy cheesy pasta dish with steak, inspired by the famous sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bread Cubes
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 pound Pasta
  • 1-½ pound Top Sirloin Steak
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ Tablespoons Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil Or More As Needed
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 pound White American Cheese, Cubed
  • ½ whole Green Pepper, For Topping (optional)
  • ½ cups Onion, For Topping (optional)
  • ½ pints Mushrooms, For Topping (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Slice bread into cubes and toss in a Ziploc bag with olive oil and garlic powder. Bake for about 20 minutes or so.

Boil pasta and slice the steak very thinly against the grain. Cook the meat in a skillet with vegetable oil. As the meat brown, chop up finely with a metal spatula. Season with salt and pepper.

Set the meat aside and drain pasta. In a large saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour. Add milk. Heat milk and add cubes of cheese. Whisk cheese sauce until creamy and smooth. Add in pasta and meat. Stir to combine and add crumbled croutons as topping.

Bake at 350ºF for about 20 minutes. While baking, sauté green peppers, onions, and mushrooms for optional topping.
