A French bread pizza that is loaded with mushrooms stacked on top of an awesome bechamel sauce.
To make the béchamel sauce, melt the first amount of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour, and cook the flour on medium heat, stirring for a few minutes. Once the flour is cooked through, add in the milk, and continue to stir until you have a nice thick sauce. Season with salt and pepper, and set it aside.
Into a medium-sized skillet, add the second amount of butter, and let that melt over medium heat. Once melted, add the mushrooms and cook for about ten minutes. Add the soy sauce, toss to combine and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
Preheat your oven to 425 F.
Put the French bread onto a baking tray and open it up so your two cut sides are facing up. Slather on the béchamel sauce, coating from edge to edge. Cover the sauce with the cooked mushrooms, then top with the grated Parmesan cheese.
Place pan into the oven, and cook for about 25 minutes, or until the sauce is lightly browned. Remove from the oven, let it cool for about 5 minutes, then dig in.
I love a good meat-covered pepperoni or Italian sausage French bread pizza, but this mushroom French bread pizza was amazing. The cremini mushrooms added a light meaty flavor that was perfectly balanced with the creamy béchamel sauce. So if you are looking for an easy French bread pizza to make, give this one a try.
