This Southern classic made in the crockpot tastes just like you have been slaving away over a bubbling cauldron all day! Made with smoked turkey sausage for a lighter version.
Combine all ingredients (except the rice) in the bowl of your crockpot. Cook on high for 6 hours.
Once beans are tender, mash about half of them in the crockpot. This helps give the beans that starchy sauce! Finish cooking time.
Serve over rice. Enjoy!
