Mom rarely measured anything and of course I didn’t watch closely enough or write anything down before she died suddenly over 20 years ago. Finally, my sis and I worked out what we think is a close approximation of Mom’s recipe. Make the day before and let the flavors “get married,” as Mom would say. Enjoy!
Brown beef with onion and green pepper; drain.
Add remaining ingredients (except rolls) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 15 minutes.
Serve about 1/2 cup on each hamburger roll. My kids like to top theirs with cheddar or potato chips!
