BBQ? Bacon? Cheeseburger? Pizza? What’s not to love?
Preheat oven to 400F. Spray a 13×18 sheet pan with cooking spray. Roll out pizza dough and set aside. (Patience!Pizza dough can be a pain!)
In a medium frying pan, heat oil and butter over medium high heat. Add onions and saute until caramelized – about 10-15 minutes. Remove the onions from the pan and set aside. In same pan, brown and crumble the beef, then when it’s nicely browned, drain off the grease. Set aside.
Spread 1 cup of BBQ sauce over prepared pizza dough making sure to get close to the edges. Top with cooked ground beef. Sprinkle evenly with bacon bits. Mix remaining BBQ sauce with a splash of water (just a small splash to thin it out a little) and sprinkle it over beef and bacon bits. Top evenly with caramelized onions, mozzarella, and cheddar.
Bake in 400F oven for 30-45 minutes or until hot and bubbly and crust is golden.
Note: Baking time may vary depending on what type of pizza dough you use. I use a frozen pizza dough and it usally takes about 40 minutes to bake. When I use a refrigerated dough such as Pillsbury, it only takes about 25-30 minutes to bake. If you use a premade crust, I would only bake it for 15-20 minutes. So, keep an eye on it – and you can always refer to the dough package instructions for baking time and temperature! Enjoy!
